Six French people were killed, victims of the events of April 1994. Responsibility for the attack on President Habyarimana's plane seems to be attributed to Hutu radicals. These extremists might have wanted to eliminate possible eyewitnesses.

The following passage at the end was censored: “This procedure is obviously possible but it is not desirable. It indeed presents a major drawback: the possible relaunch of a media campaign condemning past cooperation between the former Kigali regime and the French government.” In addition, the uncensored version includes a handwritten annotation at the head: “JP Lacroix [illegible] Did the Prime minister sign the letter? [other writing] yes below.” At the bottom we find another handwritten note preceded by an arrow “Copy JP. Lacroix 1st Minister » The author of the note writes that the members of the French military assistance mission in Rwanda are part of UNAMIR instead of MAM. A bug ?
