Title
Au Rwanda l'horreur est désormais devenue quotidienne et on a le sentiment de répéter chaque jour la même chose : massacres, exactions, pillages, exode
Abstract
- In Rwanda, the horror has now become daily and we have the feeling of repeating the same thing every day: massacres, abuses, looting, exodus.
- A few kilometers from Kigali, a hospital. The last may be in operation. Section of orphans: here there are a hundred, in the country thousands. Orphans are likely to be one of the major problems in the years to come in Rwanda. Most of these young children were found dead. They keep wounds of rare savagery on their bodies: traces of machetes or shot.
- Outside, the villages of straw around Kigali offer the same images of desolation and apocalypse: massacres carefully organized in the face of the indifference of the whole world. 200,000 dead in four weeks and inert diplomacy.
- Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the UN Secretary General visiting Paris yesterday [May 11], recommends sending 5,000 blue helmets. The United States last night proposed to the UN the possibility of creating a protection zone.
- While the soldiers of the Rwandan Patriotic Front go down towards Kigali, the refugees go up towards the North in Tanzania. At least 250,000 refugees in the camps. A deplorable situation that is deteriorating day by day.
