KIGALI, Nov 30 (AFP) - Rebels attacked government army positions at Mutura in Rwanda's northwestern Gisenyi province overnight, state radio reported Tuesday.
Rebels of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (FPR) moved through a forest and attacked a trading village at Kabatwa, the radio said, but gave no casualty figures.
If officially confirmed, the attack would be a violation of a ceasefire and peace pact signed by the government and the FPR last August 4 at Arusha in Tanzania, ending three years of civil war.
FPR guerrillas were also seen at Mukingo in neighbouring Ruhengeri province, the radio said.
The U.N. observer mission in Rwanda last week reported that 37 people were killed by unidentified attackers in the north of the country on November 18.
