MOSCOW, April 12 (AFP) - Twenty-two Russian nationals including embassy staff and their dependents as well as Aeroflot airlines employees have been evacuated from the Rwandan capital Kigali, ITAR-TASS reported Tuesday.
All were taken to the capital of neighbouring Burundi and were expected to return to Russia in the next few days, the report said, quoting an official from the Russian foreign ministry's Africa department.
Foreign nationals have been leaving Kigali following the outbreak of fighting between pro- and anti-government forces around the capital last week.
The United States, France and Belgium have dispatched troops to Rwanda and Burundi to assist in the evacuations.
