CAIRO, Oct 26 (AFP) - An Egyptian special presidential envoy, Said Rifaat, is due to visit the Rwandan capital Kigali Wednesday and later travel on to neighbouring Burundi, where serious ethnic clashes have been reported, officials said here Tuesday.
Rifaat told reporters he would hold talks with the Secretary General of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), Salim Ahmed Salim, who arrived in Kigali Tuesday for a four-day visit.
Rifaat, who is a deputy foreign minister, said he would visit Burundi later to "see how the situation develops there," but he did not specify a date.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is currently acting chairman of the OAU.
