BRUSSELS, April 9 (AFP) - Some 40 Belgian soldiers serving with the UN were deployed at Kigali airport to assist with the landing of French soldiers there, the Belgian defence ministry said Saturday.
The Belgian soldiers had been at the airport since Friday, a spokesman said.
Meanwhile, some 800 Belgian paratroopers who were put on alert Friday in Belgium were still at their bases Saturday morning, the spokesman added.
These men could be sent to help reinforce the 450-strong Belgian force currently serving with the UN in Rwanda.
