NAIROBI, Feb 28 (AFP) - Rwandan vice president Paul Kagame and Eritrean President Issaias Afeworki held talks on bilateral issues during Kagame's visit in the Eritrean capital, Asmara, Eritrean radio reported Tuesday.

Kagame on Monday briefed Issaias on the situation in Rwanda, which is recovering from the effects of a bloody civil war that erupted following the death of president Juvenal Habyarimana in April last year.

The war ended in July after the mainly Tutsi Rwanda Patriotic Front, commanded by Kagame, seized power from the remnants of Habyarimana's regime, who were backed by the Hutu-dominated military.

Issaias told Kagame that Eritrea would do "everything possible" to help the Rwandan government in its bid to bring about peace in the country, the radio, monitored here by the BBC added.
