WASHINGTON, Jan 6 (AFP) - Secretary of State Warren Christopher has appointed Ambassador Townsend Friedman as the US Special Rwanda Coordinator, the State Department said Friday.
Friedman was to advise Christopher on issues concerning Rwanda and coordinate contacts with governmental agencies tasked with distributing US aid to the African country.
The United States has promised additional aid to Rwanda totalling 11.5 million dollars during a visit there by President Bill Clinton's national security advisor Anthony Lake.
