KIGALI, May 24 (AFP) - The Secretary General of the Organisation of African Unity, Salim Ahmed Salim, is expected to meet Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana and top officials Monday.
Salim, who arrived here Saturday on a four-day official visit, toured a refugee camp Sunday at Ngarama, northwest Rwanda, an official source said.
He will also meet Rwanda's Labour and Social Affairs Minister, Landouald Ndasingwa, and the High Commissioner for Refugees representative for discussions about refugees displaced by fighting in regions bordering Rwanda.
Meanwhile, more than 3,000 women from the Republican Movement, Liberal Party, Social Democrat Party and Rwandan Socialist Party held a rally Sunday in the capital, Kigali, in support of Education Minister Agathe Uwilingiyi, who was attacked in her home May 7.
About 20 people armed with handgrenades, machetes and clubs attacked and injured her.
The demonstrators called for top security officers to be sacked and for the president to restore peace. They also expressed concern over a spate of recent bomb attacks in the country.
