LUXEMBOURG, April 15 (Reuter) - Luxembourg's honorary consul in Rwanda
was killed in the aftermath of the assassination of the Rwandan
president, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
Charles Shamakiga, honorary consul for Luxembourg since 1986, was
killed on April 7, a ministry official said. No further details of the
killing were yet available.
He said that Shamakiga, 56, was married with four children, one of whom
lives in Brussels.
Efforts were being made to evacuate the three children remaining in
Kigali to Brussels with Belgian official help, he said, adding that no
mention was made of Shamakiga's wife in the evacuation plan.
