BRUSSELS, April 11 (Reuter) - The European Union said on Monday it had
granted 500,000 European currency units ($570,000) in humanitarian aid
for victims of the new wave of ethnic violence in Rwanda.
The aid, given to the Belgian branch of the medical relief organisation
Medecins sans Frontieres and flown in last Saturday, will pay for a
surgical team and surgical equipment, a European Commission spokesman
said.
The spokesman said the EU delegation in the capital Kigali would be
completely evacuated later on Monday.
