BRUSSELS, April 9 (Reuter) - Foreigners and aid workers travelling in
three convoys of cars fled the southern Rwandan town of Butare on
Saturday and managed to cross the border into Burundi, a Belgian radio
                           correspondent reported.
The RTBF correspondent said in a report from Butare that the town was
calm but that the convoys had left in case the civil war and ethnic
                      bloodletting spread to the area.
The correspondent said the three convoys totalled around 100 vehicles
but gave no figures on the number of people who had crossed the border.
